"Lizdeikos Rap Legends" is a musical performance for children and young people in which Lithuanian legends are combined with contemporary theater, live music, and rap.
During the performance, theater actors and the Klaipėda Chamber Orchestra perform together on stage. The orchestra is not merely a musical accompaniment to the performance. The musicians become full-fledged participants in the show—they play, act, and interact, working together with the actors and the audience to bring the world of Lithuanian legends to life. There are no strict boundaries here between the stage and the audience, between theater and concert, or between the legends of the past and the world of today’s young people.
The performance tells legends about the birth of Lizdeika, Gediminas’s dream, Vytautas’s horse, the love between Sigismund Augustus and Barbora Radvilaitė, Tvardauskis’s spells, and St. Anne’s Church. However, what matters most is not merely what happened, but what these legends mean to us today.
Three young people dream of becoming stars and creating their own legend. Together with them, the audience journeys through Lithuanian history, learning not only to remember it but also to experience it, and most importantly—they ask themselves whether every person can become a legend of their own time and what we must do in our lives to make our story worth telling to others?
“Lizdeikos Rap Legends” is a fusion of theater, live music, rap, and Lithuanian cultural heritage, inviting children not only to watch the performance but also to help create it, to think, to sing, rap, and discover their connection to Lithuania.
