An adventure film for the whole family about friendship, courage, and love for animals.
Thirteen-year-old Sofija seems to have everything she could possibly want, but in reality, she feels lonely and misunderstood. Her parents are constantly buried in their work and worries, and she can’t seem to find her place among her peers. Everything changes during a birthday trip with her mom, when a stray dog unexpectedly appears on their path. Sofija immediately senses that this clever, gentle, and needy four-legged friend is no mere chance hitchhiker. She names him Gudručius and decides to take care of him.
However, Gudručius’s fate soon lands him in less-than-ideal hands. Taken to a veterinary clinic and later transferred for further treatment, the puppy ends up at a facility where the staff cares more about money than the animals’ well-being. When Sofija realizes that her new friend is in danger, she takes a bold step—she rescues Gudrutis and sets off with him on an unforgettable journey across the country.
With the help of her friend and her older brother, Sofija hides from the adults, and her and Gudrutis’s adventures unexpectedly start spreading online. Before long, Gudrutis becomes a true internet star, and the girl’s escape becomes a story followed by the entire country. However, this journey becomes more than just a rescue mission. It forces Sofija’s family to come together and remember what matters most in a family.
“Gudrutis and Me” is a heartwarming story, full of adventure and humor, about friendship, courage, love for animals, and the bond that can bring even the most distant people together. The film, dubbed into Lithuanian, will hit theaters on October 16.
The film is dubbed into Lithuanian, without subtitles.
