What is on in Klaipėda through the year
In autumn and winter Klaipėda's events move indoors: the Drama Theatre stages premieres and its repertoire, the Musical Theatre opera, operetta and musicals, the Concert Hall hosts the Klaipėda Chamber Orchestra and visiting artists, and the Culture Factory runs concerts, stand-up nights and family programmes. In summer the city moves outside: at the end of July the Sea Festival fills the Old Town, the quays and Smiltynė for three days, the Castle Jazz Festival plays by the castle harbour, and open-air concerts, cinema nights and fairs take over the banks of the Danė, Theatre Square and the seaside. In December the tree lights up on Theatre Square and the Christmas town opens, while 16 February, 11 March and the city's birthday in August each bring their own programme. Exhibitions in galleries and museums, workshops for children and guided tours run all year round.
