For many years now, the Šeiko Dance Theater has been exploring the boundary between movement and sound; In their work, the human body becomes a unique instrument that tells stories, reveals emotional states, and seeks a living connection with the audience. Led by choreographer Agnija Šeiko, the company—renowned for its distinctive language of contemporary dance and dialogues between different art forms— will join forces with the Klaipėda choir “Aukuras” to offer a fresh perspective on the Lithuanian choral music tradition.
The program will feature works by Vytautas Miškinis, Vaclovas Augustinas, Rytis Mažulis, Gediminas Venislovas, and other Lithuanian composers. These works reveal different worlds of the human voice. From choral tradition, the beauty of harmonies, and a spiritual sound to contemporary expression, rhythm, and new explorations of sound. In this performance, dance will not serve as an illustration of the music but as an equal partner, extending what sound alone can no longer express.
The “Aukuras” choir, which has been active for more than three decades, and one of Lithuania’s most prominent contemporary dance companies will create an experience in which, through a dialogue between voice and movement, Lithuanian choral music will unfold not only as a listening experience but also as a living dance narrative.
