Sometimes, in order for music to reveal itself in a different way, you first need to close your eyes. In the experiential program “Music Without Borders,” the Klaipėda choir “Aukuras” invites you to focus all your attention on listening and to experience music anew.
By setting aside visual impressions, sound becomes the primary guide. The timbre of the human voice, the acoustics of the space, the dynamics of the music, and even the meaning of silence become more vividly apparent. Each piece invites you to focus on what often goes unnoticed and to experience music not with your eyes, but through your ears, imagination, and personal experience.
The program will feature songs by Henry Moses, Vaclovas Augustinas, Henry Purcell, an arrangement of a Cyndi Lauper song, Lithuanian folk songs, and works by other composers. Music from different eras and musical traditions will come together to form a cohesive narrative, revealing the diversity of human vocal expression —from choral polyphony and sacred solemnity to contemporary harmonies and interpretations of popular music.
The Klaipėda choir “Aukuras,” led by Tomas Ambrozaitis and active for more than three decades, continually seeks new forms of artistic expression alongside its classical choral repertoire and pushes the boundaries of the traditional concert. In the experiential program “Music Without Borders,” the choir invites you to trust solely in what sound can convey and to discover music as a personal experience that unfolds differently for each listener.
