A dance performance dedicated to adolescence
@gigi.use* spends her free time watching birds and (sometimes) people. @ecccka is a true gamer who can spend hours on end in the strangest body positions. Although his personality is hard for the outside world to fathom, he reveals his true colors in the world of online gaming. @ugnekavka – a disciplined punk: an exemplary girl in her parents’ eyes, but her rebellious side comes out when she experiments with her hair. And @a.carlocarloo—the life of the party who likes to push boundaries, which is why his jokes sometimes turn into bullying. Although they’re all different, they’re all connected by the same world of memes.
The play plays on the double meaning of the words “meme” and “meme.” This allows the play to explore identity, relationships with others, and the contradictory power of humor—its ability to bring people together and unite them, but also to divide or hurt them. The choreography also follows the logic of meme creation—the content on stage is constantly observed, reworked, and transferred into new contexts, taking on new meanings each time.
Balancing humor and sensitivity, playfulness and painful experiences, the performance explores what the language of memes reveals about ourselves: what matters to us, what we value, what we condemn, what we fear, and what we dream of.
So who am I? The one who laughs? The one who is laughed at? The one who observes everything? Or perhaps the one whom no one really knows?
