Kika

Kika—a mother, wife, and social worker—sees her life turned upside down when she falls deeply in love with another man. However, having given herself over to her feelings, she suddenly loses her lover and is left alone, pregnant, and in debt. To make ends meet, Kika enters the sex trade. Presented at the Cannes Film Festival, this film—a sort of ironic modern-day “Pretty Woman”—explores the reality of single mothers and their difficult path to economic independence.
