The end of the 1930s in Podhale. Jendrek Zavrat (Filip Pławiak), a talented mountaineer from a famous family of highlanders, loves to take risks. When climbing mountains, he chooses the most challenging routes, and when he falls in love, he’s ready to sacrifice everything. His chosen one is the beautiful Bronka (Sandra Drzymalska), but by her family’s decision, she is promised to his older brother—the calm and serious Maciek (Julian Świeżewski). The proud Jendrek leaves his hometown and tries to lose himself in the bohemian scene of Kraków. When the war breaks out, the Germans offer the residents of Podhale the chance to collaborate, forcing the brothers to make extremely difficult decisions. They find themselves on opposite sides of the conflict, a situation that will determine not only their fates but also the future of the entire region.
